A good chin wag is always beneficial isn’t it ladies.
A delight if it is spend with close family, friends or like minded folks and I have to tell you am looking forward to a good session at the weekend.
My youngest daughter and I are hosting a Baby Shower Party for my oldest daughter who is expecting her first baby in “about” four weeks – that is if baby decides.
I’m so excited – I going to be a Gran!!
Twenty five to thirty women, sharing experiences and hard earned knowledge of life as wives, mothers, grannies, aunties, cousins, friends and the list goes on.
But the thing I like most of all about these “any excuse for a good natter days”, is to just observe.
Women are fantastic at supporting each other, always ready to hold out a hand, a silent nod and the holding of the space, to just listen – it’s is a thing to behold.
I know you all understand this and because I can’t invite you all to my event, perhaps I can direct you to special event where you can hold out a hand, observe, natter and nod too.
On Monday 8th March 2010 you can meet up with other ladies of the region in Newcastle.
Why – I hear you all ask!
Join Me on the Bridge is an event organised by Women for Women International, an organisation which provides women survivors of war, civil strife and conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to self sufficiency.
This event is being held to unite women from all over the world by showing they can build bridges of peace and development for the future from London, New York, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Iraq, Sudan and Nigeria, saying no to war and yes to peace.
Representatives, from the Northumberland and Tyne and Wear Women Reaching Women project run by the Women’s institute will be supporting this cause hoping that the importance of investing in women will be recognised by world leaders around the world.
Meeting from both sides of the River Tyne, groups of ladies will then walk to the Millennium Bridge at Gateshead. You can enjoy refreshments and stalls displaying some of the work being carried out by local and national groups and the vital work they do in relation to the development of peace and the links with overseas women’s groups.
So get arty ladies on your own poster, t-shirt, sheets and fly the banner for all the natters, nodders, hand holders and peace loving ladies of the world.
If I can make it, I’ll be there and please, feel free to send any photographs you have taken from the event, I would love to see them.
Where to meet: Newcastle Quayside below the Tyne Bridge or west of the Sage, Gateshead and then walk to the Millennium Bridge. Time 1.00pm until 3.00pm
