Wall to wall creativity from Pamela

Artist Pamela Nord can’t remember a time when she has not used her creativity in some way.

As a child she was always sewing, knitting and crocheting, making clothes and accessories for herself.

After leaving school she joined Clarmont Garmot Clothing in Peterlee as a junior pattern cutter later moving to Praxiz Tayloring in Stockton where she became expert at fitting and pattern cutting for children’s clothing.

But during her thirties Pamela decided it was time for a change and signed up for an honours degree course at Cleveland College of Art and Design where she studied Textiles, Art and Surface Pattern.

The art work here is strikingly feminine to complement the salon’s wide range of services.

Pamela’s hand-made greeting cards are also on display here and she hopes to put them to print very soon.

Whether she is designing artwork for websites, company logos, exhibitions, private commissions or for herself, every one of her pieces is totally unique.

Her work combines diverse materials to create impact in terms of colour, shade and texture.

Totally unafraid to experiment,Pamela draws her inspiration from the interaction between inks, tree bark, bleach, iron, plaster, paint and fabrics amongst other media to create images of depth and beauty that are both unusual and innovative.

Youngsters from Norton School in Stockton are now reaping the benefits of having such a creative person in their classrooms where Pamela is a supply teacher.

“I believe children should be encouraged to express their own creativity.

I like to see the look of concentration on their faces and the way art seems to allow the children to relax and become focused during lessons,” said Pamela.
